Fashion rules for wearing leggings

Just like pair of comfortable shoes, great jeans or a nice bag, leggings became something that every girl has in her closet. Some of you love them, others hate them, but the truth is leggings are cool, because with small effort you can look very stylish and sexy. But there are some rules that you must follow when it comes to leggings.

First thing you must always remember is that leggings are not pants, so you can’t wear them instead of them. You must always combine them carefully with other clothes, otherwise you will look cheap.

Colors and texture

Other thing that you always need to have in mind is the color of the leggings. If you wear purple, dark brown, black or dark blue leggings your legs will look longer and slimmer, but if wear neon colors, pastel colors, bright primary colors and white leggings you can get the opposite effect.

For making your legs look slimmer and longer, you also must carefully choose the texture of the leggings. For instance, if you wear leggings with horizontal stripes your legs will look wider, but if you wear a pair with vertical stripes, visually your legs will look thinner and longer. The floral motives and the animal prints also add few more kilograms visually.

Combining leggings with other pieces

Leggings are mixture of style and comfort, but you can’t wear them on work as pants unless you combine them with something more formal, that will give a fantastic final result. The good thing is that you can combine them with lots of things, which gives you many opportunities every time to look different and stylish.

You can wear them with tunics, long shirts, long sweaters, blazers and other pieces that at least must cover your buttocks. Sometimes this rule can be broken, but be very careful.

Depending on the season, you can wear them with boots, heels, ballerina shoes, sandals, sneakers… basically anything.

When not to wear leggings

If you have important meeting at work, job interview or you are going to a fancy dinner or wedding don’t wear leggings. Maybe you will feel very comfortable, but you may look very unprofessional and provocative.

How to take care of leggings

To keep them looking like new, you must wash them after every wearing, because after wearing them the water helps elasticity to go back to normal. Leggings are very delicate because they are mostly made of synthetics so you can’t wash them on high temperatures or afterwards to put them in the dryer. This doesn’t mean that you must wash them on hand but be very careful with the temperature.
